watched passion of Christ today, with the whole cell group, cuz they watching at my house. kan le gan chu hao shen. the effects are really good. as in, you won't think that it's only a movie, that they're only acting. and it strikes me just how much Jesus suffered.
it's not only a movie; the movie images brings the sufferring nearer to us and helps us visualise and really feel for Jesus. you imagine how it would feel if you were in his place, and are awed and amazed by his love for us, for you and me, that he was willing to suffer and even give up his life for us. and giving up his life doesn't mean a gunshot and a quick clean death. it means being crucified, nailed to the cross on your hands and legs.
nailed, straight through the palm and flesh and bone. and your whole body being supported just by those nails when the cross is upright. can you imagine mostly hanging by nails in your hands? the weight and pressure? just ouch doesn't even begin to cover it. and that's not the only thing. the scourging (spelling?) is also brutal and... i just can't describe it; there aren't enough words for what he went through.
